  • Outreach is a key role in our residential service, working within the house and within our wider community. Outreach support is pivotal in our resident's journey to wellbeing.

    Odyssey House Christchurch has been providing drug and alcohol treatment programmes for over 30 years. Our Adult Men's Residential programme offers a mix of clinical approaches including Māori and Pasifika concepts of health and wellbeing from a Therapeutic Community model.

    As part of our residential team, you will build upon the proud history of Odyssey in Canterbury, and ensure Outreach services meet clients' needs in the current world.

    As the Outreach Support Worker, you will be:
    • Holding a caseload of Outreach clients
    • Supporting the residential programme through facilitating groups and attending meetings.
    • Developing robust community supports, attending appointments with clients and linking them with other agencies.
    • Having one on one and whanau meetings to ensure transition hurdles are being overcome
    • Responsible for the orientation and running of our community house, where residents transition from residential into community.
    • This role will be based at our adult men's residential site and out of the community.
    To be successful, you will have:
    • A level 4 health qualification preferably in alcohol and other drugs (AOD), social work or mental health or be willing to work towards this
    • Skills in group delivery and individual interventions
    • Excellent professional judgement and strong boundaries
    • Excellent time management skills to juggle multiple tasks
    • Ability to take initiative, be flexible and think out the box
    • Drivers Licence as this role is based at various sites
    • A high level of understanding of tikanga Māori and its importance within this setting
    This role is 32 hours per week, with the flexibility to support evening groups and meetings (1-2 evenings per week and one rostered Saturday per month). This role is remunerated under the Support Worker pay equity rates.
