  • Eye Specialists is a private Ophthalmology service, providing surgical and medical management for a large range of eye problems. We deliver a highly professional, highly skilled service which strives to provide the best possible outcome for our patients.

    The Sterile Services Technician role is responsible for providing optimum patient care through effective sterilisation, preparation and maintenance of instruments and equipment. We are seeking positive and self-motivated people for a technician position in our Sterile Services department.

    This is a permanent, part time role, to be worked as rostered Monday-Friday in our sterilising department.
    Trained and experienced Sterile Services Technicians are preferred, however we will support you through the online Sterile Sciences Certificate training provided by Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology if required - this may be an opportunity to train and gain qualifications in this critical and interesting area of the healthcare environment. The skills you will learn are transferrable and provide you with a career pathway.

    You will be responsible for the preparation of sterile instruments, supplies and equipment for use in our practice. You will operate washers, sterilisers, and perform technical and mechanical work in the inspection, decontamination and servicing of instruments and equipment.

    Specific duties include:
    • Reprocessing and sterilising all instruments and equipment to the required standard.
    • Understand and work within the AS/NZ 4187:2014 and ACHS Equip6 standards.
    • Demonstrate knowledge and skills of correct function, monitoring and safe practice of the disinfecting, cleaning and sterilisation process.
    Skills and Experience:
    • Previous experience in a healthcare/theatre setting would be advantageous.
    • Exceptional attention to detail.
    • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Enthusiasm and a proactive, flexible attitude.
    • You will need to provide evidence of being fully vaccinated against Covid-19
