    It is an exciting time for us and we are looking for a Purchasing Manager to join our growing team!

    As our Purchasing Manager, you will be responsible for the management of resale stock, from design, selection, procurement, to quality management, locating the best quality for the lowest price. Responsibilities include:
    • To introduce/develop/design new product lines and retire older lines to complement core product ranges that appeal to the tastes of our target customers ensuring the products and reflect the Furniture Zone brand and achieving profit margin targets
    • To ensure optimal stock levels are available to meet demand, support promotions and commercial sales, and ensure unimpeded sales flow
    • To communicate and educate company staff on new products, working with marketing to provide required information prior to product release
    • To build strong working relationships with our suppliers, evaluate potential new suppliers, and negotiate contracts protecting our profit margins while not sacrificing quality
    • To achieve maximum profit margins on product lines through negotiating best pricing with suppliers, shipping costs, and payment terms and balancing sales volume with highest achievable retail price
    • To monitor and manage product quality and work with suppliers to resolve issues quickly ensuring minimal loss of revenue due to warranty issues
    • To represent Furniture Zone and its products in a professional, consistent, and caring manner, illustrating exceptional customer awareness and build a loyal following
    To be considered for this role you will need:
    • Previous design/buying/purchasing experience in a similar position, minimum 2 years
    • Have a love of design and furniture, and an understanding of the product lifecycle
    • Understanding of textiles and product design process
    • Advanced written and verbal communication skills
    • Solid numbers and analytical skills with the ability to perform cost analyses and budgets
    • Staff management experience
    • Strong negotiation skills
    • Attention to detail and accuracy
    • A positive, 'can-do' attitude
    Applicants for this position must be a New Zealand citizen or have NZ residency, be willing to travel to visit stores and suppliers (both locally and internationally on occasion). You will be working as a part of a great team, and we are looking to grow it with happy and energetic people!
