The opportunity:
Visy are a global leading, privately owned company in sustainable packaging and resource recovery, worldwide. Visy Board specialise in manufacturing innovative corrugated cardboard packaging solutions using highly automated production machinery. Visy Board Wiri site was established in 1997 and has continuously grown and developed since. We are committed to producing and delivering high quality cardboard packaging throughout New Zealand.
What we're seeking is a Mechanical Apprentice and an energetic individual who is enthusiastic to learn the skills of the trade alongside fully qualified maintenance engineers. You will be learning and working towards becoming a fully qualified tradesperson in Maintenance Engineering achieving National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering Level 4.
You can expect to (with guidance):
Carry out routine repairs and maintenance on plant equipment
Attend to unplanned maintenance tasks, including breakdowns
Monitor equipment condition, diagnosis and fault finding
Develop maintenance procedures and related documentation
Follow and assist managing safety systems
Assist in setting up and using the Preventative Maintenance Program
Attend classes as and when required and complete all training assignments accurately and on time
Skills & Experience
Your toolbox of skills and experiences; you will have:
Previous work experience
Previous maintenance or production work experience (preferable, but not essential)
Full driver's license (or working towards full licence)
Minimum of 3 years secondary education
NCEA level 2 in English and Maths (required)
NCEA level 2 in Science, Graphics and Technology (ideal)
